Update

We've been approved for the franchise! Hurray!! We mailed the down payment on Friday and have applied for a business loan. Now we just have to get an accountant, set up an LLC, pay the rest of the franchise fee, lease an office, go to training, and THEN get going ;) You have no idea what a change this has made for our family. Kyle has a light at the end of the tunnel now ... something to keep his mind off how bad his job in corporate America really is. We're so excited!

The lake has reopened. Kyle and I went out on the boat for only our second time since it closed. Man was it choppy. We both got a little seasick on the way from the marina to a cove, where we were hoping to escape some of the rough water. But, it was relatively choppy even in the cove. Mostly we just relaxed in the boat, but we did swim for a bit too. The water wasn't nearly as "dirty" this weekend as it was last weekend. Nevertheless, it wasn't something I wanted to spend a great deal of time in. The "lower" parking lot is still underwater (note the trucks). The "upper" parking lot is fine (the vantage point from where the pic was snapped), as is the lot above it at Carlos and Charlie's. It's hard to believe that I would have been under water well over my head from where I was standing just a few weeks ago!

My friend has nearly recovered from her pre-eclampsia and her premie is doing well. If you're interested, they've created a CarePage blog for the baby. The message board is a source of great support for them.

The Boy comes home from camp this weekend. About the loss of Ryan Dickerson, the camp director, Steve Baskin, writes, "Frankly, many if not most of the campers did not have a strong personal experience, but they were aware of how we supported each other as a community. Even if they did not mourn (or even miss a beat), they saw people who love each other and reached out to each other." We believe Drew is probably in the didn't-miss-a-beat category. We're anxious to pick him up and hear all about his first camp experience (including the pie eating contest on the shores of lake LBJ)!

Congrats on the franchise! That should give you lots of blog-fodder to come. ;) Can't wait to hear all about it. I know what having that "light at the end of the tunnel" can do for you (32 days and counting over here!!!).

Glad you got to go boating too. Sounds like fun!
