Gone public

Wow, has it really been over two weeks since my last post? Things are a tad nutty ... on top of the normal increase in activities generated by the onset of Christmas, we officially opened the doors to our franchise on the 3rd. Mom has been working in the office every day since, getting things in order and phone screen/interviewing potential care givers. There's been so much to do. Kyle met with our accountant last week to set up the Quickbooks/pay roll system. He then spent several hours entering expenses. Needless to say our profit/loss numbers for 2007 look extremely scary. Hopefully we'll get the requisite 10-20 care givers hired soon, so we can obtain some clients next month and start generating revenue.

In other nuttiness, my job is in overdrive as we approach CES. I'll be in Las Vegas for a week right after new year's, and am already looking forward to being back home. The show is massive, exhausting, and long. There are approximately 2700 exhibiting companies, filling the entire Las Vegas Convention Center, the entire Sands/Venetian Expo Center and the entire Las Vegas Hilton. My company will have a presence in 3 different locations, though thank god they're all in the same building this year! There will also be at least 100,000 people in attendance. Imagine that for a moment, it's like having a major university -- students, faculty, and staff -- descend upon one town for one week. Sheer chaos.

And last but not least, we've finally gone public with the pregnancy! Yes, it's only week 13, and technically there are still a few days left until the official start of my 2nd trimester so it's jumping the gun a little. But, it's getting really hard to hide the bump! And, I figured it was now or never at work (pre-CES). A lot of people are going to be out next week until the show. I wanted our team to be in-the-know so people will cut me some slack while we're there ;)

For those of you who are keeping track at home ... in the past 6 months Kyle and I got married, bought a franchise, won 50/50 custody of The Boy, moved Mom into our house, conceived a child, and managed not to get fired from our day jobs. We're also hosting Kyle's Dad and Val and all three of my sisters for Christmas. Like I said: nutty.
